A Subject Declaration Form (SDF) for Physics and Chemistry demonstrates that you have completed sufficient study in this subject area to teach it at secondary level in Ireland. The Teaching Council of Ireland requires this form as part of the teacher registration process.

Credit Requirements
Minimum ECTS Credits Required: 60 ECTS credits
Your degree programme must include at least 60 ECTS credits in Physics and Chemistryor closely related modules. These credits must be from a Level 8 degree programme (as defined by the National Framework of Qualifications in Ireland).
Note: Only ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits are accepted for Subject Declaration Forms. Credits from other systems (such as CATS or US credits) cannot be used.

All essential areas are required. You must cover all of the following areas:
- Mechanics
- Quantum Mechanics
- Oscillations, Waves, Acoustics
- Thermodynamics
- Light and optics
- Electromagnetism
- Particle Physics
- Organic Chemistry
- Inorganic Chemistry
- Physical Chemistry
Additional Requirements
Laboratory Work: Laboratory/practical work is required for this subject.
Special Notes: Must include at least 4 Physics areas and at least 2 Chemistry areas
Year Level Requirement: Physics and Chemistry must be studied up to and including third-year level or higher.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a Physics and Chemistry Subject Declaration Form, you must meet the following requirements:
- Hold or be pursuing a Level 8 degree programme (as defined by the NFQ in Ireland)
- Have completed modules in Physics and Chemistry or closely related areas
- Have sufficient ECTS credits in Physics and Chemistry (60 credits minimum)
- Modules must be from an ECTS-credited programme
- Cover the required essential areas of study listed above
- Include laboratory/practical work components
- Have studied Physics and Chemistry up to and including third-year level or higher
